Adam Stafford is back with something a little bit different. He came round to my place a few weeks ago and recorded a 40 minute, semi-improvised piece called Reverse Drift. He used a synthesiser, a couple of samples, his usual array of effects pedals and his voice. I put his rig through a couple of amps, mic’ed them up and hit record.
What we ended up with is certainly not easy listening, or even anything close to the poppier side of Adam that we heard on ‘Taser Revelations‘, but it is a fascinating and hypnotising piece of music.
Reverse Drift will be released on June 30th by the wonderful Edinburgh label Gerry Loves Records and will be accompanied by a 56 page book of Adam’s photography, featuring pictures taken between 1999 and 2017.
Adam will be playing a few live shows in support of the new release:
- Thurs 29th of June: Stereo Bar & Cafe, Glasgow
- Fri 30th June: Rio Community Centre, Newport-on-Tay
- Sat 1st of July: Leith Depot. Edinburgh
